The Philips Ingenuity TF PET-MR is suitable for anatomical imaging both in humans and experimental animals. It can be used either separately for magnetic resonance imaging, or in combination with PET imaging as an anatomical reference. The 3T Philips Achieva magnet is equipped with a state of the art gradient system having a maximum gradient strength of 80 mT/m and a slew rate of 200 mT/m/ms. The magnet can be used to perform high resolution imaging in small animals with the use of specially designed coils. The system can also be interfaced to a dedicated ECG trigger unit for performing cardiac imaging in small animals. The Phillips Gemini time-of-flight PET camera with a full-width-half-maximum of 4.7 mm is integrated to the 3T magnet for co-registration and attenuation correction purposes.

A high resolution anatomical MRI of C57BL/6 mice was performed. The freshly sacrificed mice (male and female) were imaged on the Philips Achieva 3T magnet using an 8-channel phased array whole body mouse coil (RAPID Biomedical GmbH). Images were acquired using a 3-dimensional spoiled gradient-echo (3D-T1-FFE) sequence at a spatial resolution of 0.15×0.15×0.18 mm. The video links of the MR images are provided at the bottom of the page.
