TCDM is committed to high quality standards in animal care throughout all of our experimentation. Animals are purchased only from trustworthy well-known providers. While in our care, animals are treated following humane and ethical treatment principles under Finnish legislation based on European Union Directive 2010/63/EU. All technicians working with animals have extensive training and experience to guarantee the best possible care of animals during the studies. TCDM holds all necessary licenses for studies in experimental animals approved by the Finnish Animal Ethics Committee, and the institutional policies on animal experimentation fully met the requirements as defined in the NIH Guide on animal experimentation.
Animals are housed in the Central Animal Laboratory at University of Turku, and routine health monitoring is performed according to the FELASA guidelines.
